Materials for Footwear Adhesive Formulation
Polyurethane dispersion (PUD) footwear adhesives
Successful bonding of two substrates as a single performing material must meet certain basic criteria: strong and stable cured adhesive matrix, and strong adhesive forces between the adhesive matrix and both substrates. In athletic shoe and footwear manufacturing, additional operation criteria for the adhesive are required: good substrate wetting, good brushability and rheological control, good initial tacky properties, strong initial bonding, good initial heat resistance, good heat resistance and good hydrolysis resistance. Adhesives for today’s footwear manufacturing face 2 big challenges: increasingly stricter environmental regulations, and newer and more difficult to bond synthetics materials being used in shoes. We supply a series of selected water based polyurethane dispersions which not only can meet all the performance challenges, but also can comply with environmental requirements.
